Ethan Bill Looks to Carry Momentum into 2023 at Bridgeport Motorsports Park

The 2022 season turned out to be the tale of two seasons for Ethan Bill. The first half of 2022 was full of bad luck and disappointing finishes for the crate driver in his sophomore year of driving at Bridgeport. But by midseason, the finishes began to improve to top ten; top five; podium; and then a win on August 13th. By season’s end Ethan had made four trips to victory lane and collected a 6th place finish in the 2022 crate championship points at Bridgeport.

Ethan reflected “My first season at Bridgeport was in 2021 when we won the rookie points championship along with several feature wins in the rookie division. In 2022 we started the season off slow in the 602-crate division and encountered a lot of bad racing luck early on in the season. Right before the halfway point of the season our finishes began to improve to consistent top five finishes. We finished off the 2022 season at Bridgeport with four wins and three podium finishes. It was unreal to be able to win Bridgeport’s biggest Crate Race of the season the All American 40. We honestly did not expect to win four races last season at Bridgeport and for sure it gave us a huge confidence boost going into the 2023 season.”

Ethan made a mid-October road trip to the STSS Speed Showcase at Port Royal but a blown motor in the feature ended his race and seemed to be the end of the road for his 2022 season.

Ethan recalled “Yeah, we made a late season trip to Port Royal for the STSS Speed Showcase.  Our car was top three fastest in practice and we went from 9th to 4th in our heat. So, things were looking good until we missed the setup for the feature, started to fade back through the field and then ultimately lost our motor going into turn one. Unfortunately, we broke our one and only motor, so it looked like our season was over. To make matters worse, we had already qualified for the biggest crate race of the season at Bridgeport but now had no motor. We had to find a car or motor we could borrow. The Hartwig family stepped up and loaned us a motor that we used to win the All American 40. We were able to close out the 2022 season with our fourth win of the season and the biggest win of my career. I cannot thank the Hartwig family enough for their support which made our Cinderella possible and for me to get my name on the map with my biggest win of the season at one of the top paying crate races in the tri-state area up against an exceptional field of cars.”

“We have a brand-new Ingram 602 crate motor for the 2023 season. This will be our third season in the 2018 Bicknell, and we have two solid seasons of notes on this chassis which we feel will give us a great baseline and starting point for the 2023 season.”

“Our goal for 2023 is to get more wins than last year and be consistent every week and hopefully be in the battle for the Bridgeport points championship at the end of the year.”

“We plan to run Bridgeport weekly for points which will again be our Saturday night home track. We also plan to run the STSS South events when we can since they provide great learning opportunities and experience on different tracks against the “best of the best” in the 602 Crate Division. In addition, we hope to make a few trips to Georgetown and Delaware International Speedway for some of their special events. I am excited and ready to kick off our 2023 season with two test seasons at Bridgeport on March 18th & 24th and then get going with our first race of the season on March 25 at the STSS 60 Special Doug Hoffman Memorial.”

“This is a family racing team, and I would not be here without all time and efforts of my mom and dad in the shop, office and at the track. I can’t thank my family and sponsors enough for making all this possible with their support:”
