Ryan Godown Sr. Wins Danny Serrano 100 and Ethan Bill Claims Sportsman All American 40 at Bridgeport Speedway

After three tough days of racing at the SDS World Finals in Charlotte, NC finished with a Saturday DNQ for Ryan Godown; he returned to the friendly confines of the high banks at Bridgeport on Sunday and drove his spec 358 to a convincing $10,000 win in the Danny Serrano Memorial 100 and sent the $10,000 bounty hunters home empty handed.

Matt Stangle took the early lead from polesitter Sammy Martz Sr while Godown moved into 2nd place on lap 10.  On lap 41 Matt Stangle stopped on the track and was pushed to the pits and  Godown inherited the lead.  Mike Gular moved into 2nd place behind leader Godown on lap 55 from his 18th starting position.   Godown held Gular at bay for the final 45 laps and drove into victory lane for his 14th win of the season.

In victory lane Ryan Godown Sr reflected “Danny meant a lot to me, and we hung out outside of racing a little bit.  We came up short twice at his race missing it on tires a little.  I wasn’t going to miss this race for the world, and I would drive a thousand miles to race for Danny.  He was a cool guy and everything he did was great for racing.”

“It’s been a long month already.  We hurt a motor at New Egypt, so we had to get the backup motor out and change motors before we went down to Charlotte, NC.  This car has been like a slot car this season and has made my life very easy here at Bridgeport.”

Ethan Bill took his 4th  win of the season at Bridgeport in grand fashion by leading all 40 laps of the All American 40 and driving into victory lane to claim the $4,000 winner’s check.

Ethan Bill took the lead on lap 1 from his outside starting position and never looked back.  Brian Papiez briefly took the lead on a lap 13 restart, but mechanical failure ended his night befor the lap was recorded giving the lead back to Ethan Bill.  A lap 19 front stretch tangle sent Scott and Dan Hulmes tumbling down the front stretch.  After a lengthy red flag delay, Ethan resumed the lead and finished out the final 21 laps in command and drove into victory lane with a 2.4 second margin of victory over Bryant Brobst.

In victory lane Ethan commented “This thing was an absolute rocket, and I can’t thank the Hartwig family enough for loaning us a motor after we broke our motor at Port Royal.  We just had to put the setup in the car and have at it.  To get four wins here at Bridgeport this season is unreal to me with all the competition here week in and week out.  It has just been a matter of having the car right and me doing my part.”
