Hunter McElrea took his second win in a row, as Linus Lundqvist made contact with Matthew Brabham, breaking off Brabham’s front win and relegating him to fourth. A post race penalty bumped Lundqvist behind Brabham, bringing Brabham up to 3rd, as pole winner McElrea was promoted to the top step, with Andretti teammate Rasmussen coming in second. The all Andretti podium had mixed emotions, as Brabham said that he felt he had the fastest car in the race. McElrea took a big step towards the points lead, as he gained 21 points on Lundqvist and moved up into second in the standings.
As the laps winded down, Brabham raced through the field, restarting third with only 30 laps to go, and was all over Lundqvist’s gearbox. As Brabham made a move to the high side in 2, Lundqvist continued up the track, making contact with Brabham. In response to Lundqvist’s claim that his spotter cleared him, Brabham said, “Even though your spotter cleared you, you still have mirrors.”
