Craig Von Dohren, Brian Hirthler and Dylan Hoch Take Modified, Sportsman and 602 Crate Tripleheader Wins at Grandview Season Opener

After two consecutive rainouts of opening day, the 3rd try was the charm and Grandview Speedway had cloudy and seasonable mild conditions and kicked off their 2022 season opener with a 3-division program of modified, sportsman and 602 crates.

Craig Von Dohren led the modified field to green but didn’t lead the first lap.  Mike Lisowski took the early and held onto to it for the first 19 laps of the 30 lap feature.  Von Dohren had to battled a stubborn Lisowski side by side for 5 laps until finally taking the lead.  Jeff Strunk also moved into 2nd on lap 19 and made a strong bid for the lead but in the end Craig Von Dohren took his second trip of 2022 to the Grandview victory lane and Jeff Strunk finished behind him in 2nd for the second time this year too.

The sportsman feature was a runaway by Jessie Landis early; but then a few huffs of smoke developed on lap 19 and Jimmy Leiby and Brian Hirthler moved in and made it a 3 car race.  On the white flag lap 3rd place Brian Hirthler made a two for one pass in lapped traffic to take an exciting first win of his 2022 season.

The 602 crate 25 lap feature was led by Michael Storm in Cody Manmiller’s 00 for the first 5 laps.  But then history repeated, and Dylan Hoch took the lead on lap 6 and dashed off to victory lane for another 602-crate victory on the first crate race of the season just like last year.
