Ryan Godown and Stephen Kemery Take Sunday Victories at Bridgeport’s High Banks Classic

The 3rd and final day of the High Banks Classic featured the Modifieds and the 602 Sportsman for their 3rd event of the weekend.  33 modifieds and 40 sportsmen were in attendance and vying for the trip to victory lane.

Ryan Godown took the modified win after a 3 car battle with Craig Von Dohren and Ryan Watt.

Steve Kemery overcame the odds after an overnight engine change and picked up his 10th win of the season with a green to checkered win from the pole position of the 602 crate 25 lap feature.

In the modified 50 lap feature Craig Von Dohren took the early lead from the outside pole position.  Ryan Godown took the lead on lap 30 after battling with Von Dohren in lapped traffic only to have Ryan Watt slip into the lead on lap 31.  Godown maintained pressure on Watt and resumed the lead on lap 39 and from there he drove into victory lane.

In the 602 crate feature; pole sitter Steve Kemery went from the green to checkered flag and negotiated 3 cautions and lapped traffic to take the 25 lap.  Kemery had the rods exit his oil pan of his new GM crate motor on Saturday causing a midnight trip back to the shop to put the backup motor in for Sunday.  The backup motor and midnight oil got him into his 10th victory lane of the season.

In victory lane Steve Kemery stated “I don’t know what happened to that engine last night.  I felt it knocking before we left the staging lanes.  We’ll send that one back since it’s under warranty and get a new one.  This one tonight is also about to go as the oil pressure is down to around 10.”

Kemery continued “I would like to thank Doug Rose and Joe Infante for this week this weekend.  This was a big weekend for the crate division and us to be able to race for 6K on a great surface all weekend.  I have been retired from drawing so my dad drew the pole – good job dad.  It was a total team effort to get hear and thanks to our sponsors and crew.”
