Tatuus Announces New GB3 and Road To Indy Chassis

Tatuus and the GB3 Championship, formerly known as BRDC British Formula 3, have announced major updates to Tatuus MSV-022 for 2022. This comes after Tatuus and the Road to Indy announced upgrades to the Indy Pro 2000 and USF2000 cars. Tatuus is one of the biggest manufacturers of junior formula cars, with multiple series running their platform. The upgrades both include a halo added to the cars, along with reworked aero.

GB3 and Tatuus announced that the new Tatuus MSV-022 will have a cockpit protection device, known as a halo, an extra 20 bhp added to the engine, significant safety features added to the car, and a sidepod will be added as well. More power and more downforce means that laptimes will drop significantly, and help drivers prepare for the faster formulas. Tatuus has been partnered with GB3 since 2015, and in combination with the schedule, 2022 looks to be a fantastic year for GB3.

The Road to Indy and Tatuus announced their upgrade kits in July, and have already sold all initial 40 kits. The updated cars, labeled the USF-22 and the IP-22, include the halo protection device, as well completely reworked aero, with a new monocoque, sidepods, underfloor, engine cover, air ducts, damper covers and fuel cell. The kits are designed to upgrade the existing chassis, and ensure teams are set for the next 5 years on equipment.

The move comes as part of Tatuus’ move to add halo protection devices to junior formula cars, as the company has also announced it’s Gen2 FIA F4 chassis, to debut in 2022 in several FIA Formula 4 series, including British F4. The Gen2 chassis will see the track at the Abu Dhabi GP for testing and demonstration.
