Grandview Speedway resumed racing on Saturday under summerlike weather conditions. 40 modified and 33 sportsman were in attendance for point race # 9 after the first rainout of the season last Saturday breaking 8 straight Saturdays of racing so far in 2021 at Grandview.

Brett Kressley won the modified feature for the second week in a row and for the second time this season moving his Grandview modified win total to 4 wins in 9 races. Dylan Hoch also won the sportsman division for his second week in a row and for his third sportsman win of the season. Add a crate division win for Dylan and he also has four wins on the season at Grandview.
Mark Kratz and Jesse Leiby were early leaders of the 30 lap modified feature only to have Mike Lisowski take the lead of lap 5. Lisowski continued to lead but on lap 10 Brett Kressley moved into second and by lap 16 Kressley took over the lead and then flawlessly negotiated lapped traffic for his 4th trip to victory lane at Grandview this season. The feature only had three short cautions flags and the feature saw a 24 lap green flag run.

In victory lane Brett Kressley commented “Hats off to Grandview for sure as the track turnaround was unbelievable in the feature and I was able to drive back to front from 16th since they widen up the track and made it a little easier to maneuver with the high or low line in the feature. Troy and the crew continue to kick butt on the car setup every week.”
The top ten was rounded out by Duane Howard in second place followed by Jared Umbenhauer, Craig Von Dohren, Mike Lisowski, Ron Haring, Jack Butler, Timmy Buckwalter, Jesse Leiby and Jordan Henn in 10th place.
The heat races were won by Mark Kratz, Jesse Leiby, Brett Kressley and Mike Lisowski. The last chance consolations went to Louden Reimert and Danny Bouc.

Dylan Hoch seems to be staying right with Kressley every week in his sportsman division. Dylan also won his second race in a row and also won from the 16th starting position.

The sportsman feature started out with 4 cautions before completing 2 laps. There were a 5 car tangle and 3 spins which were all in turn 1/2 with the last caution involving 9 cars on the inside of turn 1 and 2. When the dust all settled it was Matt Clay leading the field and gaining some separation with second place Kenny Bock. By lap 13 Dylan Hoch moved from 4th to 2nd and was starting to move in on Clay in first. Clay entered lap traffic but got bottled up on the bottom allowing Hoch to make the pass for the lead using the top. Dylan Hoch drove into victory lane for the 4th time this season with his 3rd sportsman win and a crate modified win.

In victory lane Dylan Hoch noted “We couldn’t get a lap in at the beginning of the feature but we fell into the right situation on every one of the 4 cautions before lap 1 and we missed all the attrition. We struggle when it’s heavy in the heat races but we have the track figured out really good for the feature when the track slicks off in the corners. We have a setup that hooks up on really good on the feature track. Tonight the top had a lip up there and the yuke tire got pulled out a little bit and it worked to our advantage. Matt got stuck behind the lapped car and that worked to our advantage too.”
The top 10 was rounded out by Matt Clay in second followed by Cody Manmiller, Kenny Bock, Kenny Gilmore, Mike Kemmerer, Mike Schneck, Chris Esposito, Bryan Rhoads and Tyler James in 10th place.
The heat races were won by Nick Faust, Nathan Mohr and Mark Gaugler. The consolation was won by Brian Hirthler.
