Briggs Danner, Craig Von Dohren and Logan Bauman Take Tripleheader Wins at Grandview

The USAC East Coast 360 tour landed at Grandview for a triple header program with the modified and sportsman programs.  A 100 cars on the nose filled the pits and the overflow pit area under breezy and overcast conditions.

The USAC East Coast Sprint Car feature went to Briggs Danner who led the 25 lap feature from green to checkered flag.  Later in the night it was Craig Von Dohren taking the modified 30 lap feature win from a 14th starting position and Logan Bauman collecting the Sportsman 25 lap feature win from a 4th starting position.

The USAC East Coast Sprints saw a repeat of Friday night at Bedford Speedway as Briggs Danner captured his 2nd win in two days.  The modified feature had a podium filled with the current point leaders – Craig Von Dohren, Brett Kressley and Jeff Strunk who came from the 14th, 15th and 24th starting positions respectively.  The sportsman feature had a podium of career best finishes and first time on the podium for Logan Bauman, BJ Joly and Mike Stofflet who came from the 4th, 1st and 3rd starting positions.   A true comparison of the old guard in modified and then new upcoming guard in the sportsman division.

Danner took the early led over the USAC East Coast 360 field by a 3 second margin until a lap 14 red flag delayed the race and brought Danner back to the field.  After a restart on lap 14 Steven Drevicki moved into 2nd place and cut the Danner’s led down to less than .2 of a second.  On lap 23 Danner was able to finally break away from Drevicki and take the trip to victory lane for his second win of the weekend.  Danner took the USAC East Coast 360 win on Friday at Bedford Speedway and made it back to back with another win on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

The 30 lap modified feature saw Jesse Leiby lead the field to green and maintain the lead until a red flag on lap 6 for a seven car tangle that blocked the track.  On the restart it was Brett Gilmore taking over the lead and pulling away from the field until he was reeled in by Doug Manmiller on lap 13 for the lead.   Manmiller stayed out in front until lap 23 when Craig Von Dohren took over the lead and drove into victory lane for his second Grandview win of the season and his first Grandview point race win of the season.

In victory lane Von Dohren noted “As expected the track conditions were influenced by the sprint cars. The bottom was the place to be and there was just enough rubber down there to be side by side and get passed Manmiller. It was our night and it is fun to race and get a win. I’m thankful for this team that makes all this happen.”
