Louden Reimert Moving into 2021 at Big Diamond and Grandview with Sights Set on Top Five Finish in Modified Point Standings

Louden Reimert moves into his 3rd season behind the wheel of the Doug Flurer # 16 modified and already has his sights set on the 2021 season with plans on running weekly points again at both Big Diamond and Grandview with aspirations on improving to a top five in points at both tracks and collecting his first modified win in 2021.

The Reimert family has had race cars on the track for over 40 years.  Louden’s grandfather Terry Reimert raced modifieds in the 70’s to early 90’s at Grandview, Big Diamond, Penn National and the Reading Fairgrounds.

In 1996 Louden’s father Shawn started racing modifieds at Grandview, Big Diamond and Central PA Speedway.  Shawn won two track championships at Central Pennsylvania Speedway and also competed on the Dirt Car tour and at Syracuse were he won rookie of the race in 2007.

In 2006 the 3rd generation hit the track at age 5 in a quarter midget and Louden has been racing ever since.  Louden reflected “I started in 2009 with Slingshots at Borgers, Kutztown Fairgrounds and also started running the slingshot tour.  For about four years we were really busy with both dad and I racing on different nights of the week.  In 2015 I moved up to the 270 division and started racing at Shellhammer’s and Path Valley.  I still race in the 270 division today and drive for Stewart Walters whenever I can.  In 2016 I also started running a speedster at Action Track for Barry Von Dohren which I also continue to run today whenever I can.  In 2017 I moved to the sportsman division at Grandview in my family owned # 58 and finished 7th in sportsman points at Grandview for the 2017 season.”

In his second year in the sportsman division at Grandview Louden won his first points championship in 2018.  Louden noted “It was great winning my first championship in our family # 58 car.  I won the championship at Grandview without winning a race which was a really rare occurrence.  It just so happen Mike Gular also won the modified championship that year without winning a race too.  It was the first time Grandview ever had two drivers win championships without winning a single race during the season.”

Louden made the jump to modified in 2019 and started driving the Doug Flurer #16 Bicknell entry.  In his first year of modified racing at Grandview he finished 11th in the points standing for the 2019 season.  “In 2020 we decided to run weekly points at both Big Diamond on Friday and Grandview on Saturday.  We had a 2016 Bicknell we used at Big Diamond and a 2019 Bicknell at Grandview with identical motors in both cars.  For our first full season at Big Diamond we were able to finish 6th in the points standings while we improved from 11th in 2019 at Grandview to 9th in 2020 points.  The 9th place finish is huge as it gives you both driver and an owner provisional for the next points season so we already have some provisionals available for the 2021 season if we need them.” Reimert noted.

In addition to racing modifieds on Fridays and Saturdays; Louden also races micros and speedsters whenever and where ever he can during the week.  Louden picked up a 270 win at Shellhammer’s and a speedster win at the grand re-opening of Middleford Speedway in Delaware during the 2020 season.

Reimert has made the trip to OCFG for the Eastern States Championships for the past two years and has qualified both years in the small block modified feature.  Louden reflected “The first year we went up for the practice a week early and we were prepared and qualified well.  This year we couldn’t make the practice as it fell on the same day as our final Grandview race.  We were still able to qualify but not having a practice the week before made it much harder to qualify.  The Eastern States is all about qualifying position.  We definitely plan on returning to the Eastern States and hoping we can make the practice session the week before the Eastern States too.”

Louden was also quick to point out “ We wouldn’t had been able to accomplish all we did last year and make all these plans for 2021 without the support of our sponsors Flurer Machine and Tool, Rhoads Brothers Livestock Hauling and Christman’s Meats.  I would also like to thank Doug Flurer and my crew for their tireless efforts to give me a strong car week in and week out.”

The brand new 2021 Bicknell’s delivery is expected any day now as the 2019 Bicknell is nearly prepared for the 2021 season.   Louden stated “We are going to continue to race the 2019 Bicknell at Grandview and will use the 2021 Bicknell at Big Diamond.  Both cars will be on coils for the 2021 season.  We plan on running both Big Diamond and Grandview for weekly points.  With a 6th in points at Big Diamond and a 9th at Grandview in 2020; if we continue to progress the way we have in the past two years we are hopeful we can break into the top 5 in the point standings at both Big Diamond and Grandview in only our 3rd year of modified competition.  The other goal is to win my first modified race in 2021.”
