Dylan Swinehard had a spirited slider and crossover battle with Xaiver Sprague for the final 10 laps. Dylan took the lead on the final lap at the checkered flag for his first win of the season.

The race was led by polesitter Jason Graber until he spun out on lap 5 handing the lead over to Xaiver Sprague. When Braydon Sheldon pulled off while running second, this allowed Dylan Swinehart to move into 2nd and began a 10 lap battle for the lead with Xaiver which was won by Dylan Swinehard who made a dramatic last lap pass at the finished line to take the win by .093 seconds over Xaiver Sprague.
Heat race winners for the 43-car sportsman field were Brent Grim, Colton Perry, Kaitlyn Bailey and Brayden Sheldon.
Consolation races were won by Kenny Gilmore and Addie Delliponti.

SPORTSMAN PIT NOTES – 8/23/25

Dylan Swinehart took the win from his 11th starting position after a slider and cross over filled 10 lap strategic battle with Xaiver Sprague
In victory lane Dylan noted “Track tonight was absolutely racy with multi grooves providing two lanes of racing on a perfect surface. I got the 5 to turn under the slider and then won the drag race to the line. I am thankful for Ron Saltzmann of Fast Four shocks he made the changes, and the track came to us just like he said it would.”
Back at the trailer Dylan reflected “Well the season looked to be good with a new team, and everything was going well with a few top fives but then the car just wouldn’t handle. Three weeks ago, we changed frames and found the top of the floor was broken in the old one. Since then, we have been fine tuning this car and now it’s hooked up. We have had Fast Four shocks all year, and he has helped our program tremendously.”

“The car was good all-night look and Ron told me to make a few changes for the feature, and they were absolutely perfect. The track came to us when it slicked off and we were finally hooked up with the new chassis. We are so happy for the team with this win, and we plan on building from here and getting both cars back up front and in victory lane. It was a fun race throwing sliders, he ran a great race crossing me over, my experience played a big factor in knowing how to force him to the bottom and make him throw the last slider and being able to cross him over with the run down the hill.”

Xavier Sprague finished 2nd from 3rd starting position after an entertaining 10 lap battle with Dylan Swinehart.
Xavier noted “In the heat stayed in 2nd for a bit but it didn’t feel like the car was getting any drive, so I moved up the track to the darker brown stuff and I got passed back to 3rd but was able to stay in the invert for the feature.”

We went back to the chopping block in the pits thinking about what we could do to the car and got some help from John Redner. We started 3rd, got under Taylor Kramer into 2nd and on lap 5 the leader spun in front of me going down the track getting me into the lead.”
“The last 10 laps with Dylan were fun with throwing sliders and crossing him back over coming up to the last turn. I thought I could run him a little high to get him tight and I just went down too fast and washed up the track and that’s when Dylan got under me in turn 4 and won the race. I wish I had gone low so he couldn’t get under me, but I got excited and made a mistake.
“Just want to say thank you to all my sponsors that are a huge help to our program – EMJ Pluming Lehigh Valley; Windustrial; Funksigns,LLC ; & John Redner Motorsport; Hoffman Discount Parts.

Brett Grim finished 3rd from his 8th starting position and posted his best finish of the season.
Brett commented “The car was flawless nearly all night. In the heat we started 6th and the first couple of laps I was just trying to survive the mayhem. On a restart the leader pushed way out, and I got under and took the lead and won the heat.
“We made one minor change and killed some stagger for the feature, and the car was the best it ever was feature time this year. I could’ve used a little more side bite in the apex of the corners but cannot complain with a 3rd place finish.”

“The race for the lead and win between Dylan and Xavier was fun to watch but wish I could’ve been a part of it. Congratulations to Dylan and the Swinehart gang.”
“I’d like to thank my entire family for all their support from working in the shop or getting everything ready behind the scenes during the week. I’d also like to thank Ron Seltmann for working closely with me to get me hooked up.”

TJ Mayberry finished 4th from his 12th starting position posting consecutive top five finishes in the last two weeks.
TJ reflected “I feel like we’ve really been hitting our stride the last few weeks. We’ve been fine tuning our feature setup, and it’s been improving every week. Last night was pretty good from the start. Hot laps felt solid. The heat races are always tough because you never know what you’re going to get. I took advantage of a few cautions and capitalized when the bottom lane opened up. Moved forward from 8th to 4th and made the invert. That’s the main goal every night, make the invert and give yourself the best chance in the feature.

“When it came to the setup for the feature, we had an idea of what we wanted to do shock wise. We were back and forth between two different options for stagger. One set of tires was exactly what we needed stagger wise, but the tires were very worn. The other set we had were better on tread but was more stagger than we would’ve liked. We decided to go with the worn set, but they were shot by then end of the feature. The track really came to me by the end. I was patient in the beginning and took advantage of restarts. It was a bit tight in the beginning but was right on towards the end. Overall, it was another great points night and another step closer to getting that first win.

Colin Cox finished 5th from his 15th starting position and continued his weekly drive to the points championship with an average finish of 5th in 14 races this season.
Colin reflected “Car felt great again all night, got a couple cautions in my heat and was able to pass for 3rd on the last lap. W made the handicapping, so I started 15th in the feature but got boxed-in early on. Once I got free, I was able to start picking cars off and worked my way up to 5th at the line. Another solid night and very good points night for us.”

Next up on Saturday, August 30 Grandview will present Modified, Sportsman and Pro 4 Racing Series Four Cylinder Stock cars on a three-division card with hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 7:30 pm.
