Since 2009, Camping World has been the title sponsor of NASCAR’s Truck Series which has been running since 1995. As the series makes the return to Indianapolis Raceway Park this coming weekend, it was announced on Wednesday that Marcus Lemonis’ company Camping World will end its title sponsorship with the Truck Series.
Marcus Lemonis, the CEO of Camping World and Gander Outdoor (Gander sponsored the series in 2019 and 2020) released a statement on Wednesday with the following:
Following the news, it was revealed that NASCAR had known about Camping World’s departure for “some time,” according to Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal. Stern said in a tweet that NASCAR is “well down the line with a potential replacement, per sources.” The leading candidate is former Truck Series title sponsor, Craftsman, who sponsored the series from its inception in 1995 to 2008.
It was reported earlier this year that the future was uncertain involving Camping World’s involvement in the truck series. After the announcement that last weekend’s Pocono Cup Series race was going to be sponsored as the “M&Ms Fan Appreciation 400,” Marcus Lemonis responded to the tweet by Adam Stern saying, “Lots of change happening and I’m sure more coming.” Camping World is currently at the end of a seven-year deal that was worth $5 Million annually. Camping World also serves as the title sponsor for the Superstar Racing Experience.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will open its playoffs this Friday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park, the first truck race at the historic short track since 2011. Green Flag at 9 PM EST on FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR.
