Scott McLaughlin took home his second win, holding off Alex Palou and his resurgent teammate Will Power. Power made an incredible recovery drive after a Lap 1 spin, aided by several full course yellows in what was a very messy race throughout the field. Polesitter Pato O’Ward suffered a mechanical failure, as did his teammate Rosenqvist. Grosjean, Herta, and Rossi were all involved in multiple incidents with each other, Pagenaud had several instances of contact, Veekay was displeased with Power’s racecraft, and multiple drivers ran off course.
Ericsson maintains his championship lead thanks to a fifth place finish, and with no major changes, the field continues to tighten. McLaughlin moved up to 7th, only 69 points behind, and it shows just how close this title fight still is, with 8 races still to go.
