Paretta Autosport announced its plans to run three races in the 2022 NTT IndyCar series, with technical support from Ed Carpenter Racing. Simona DiSilvestro is tagged to drive the no.16 Chevrolet at Road America, Mid-Ohio, and the Streets of Nashville, with other races on the table as the schedule allows. KiwiCo, an Internet based learning company has signed on as the main sponsor.
Much has been made of the Indy 500 car count, and Paretta explained the dilemma, as she doesn’t want to run a fourth ECR car, preferring to function in the independent team model that Paretta used last year. The Juncos chassis that was leased by Paretta is obviously in use this year, and the Penske personnel are assigned overseas to the WEC program, both this year’s LMP2 program and the upcoming Porsche hypercar. The no.16 car will be the no.33 that Ed Carpenter is running in all oval events, but reskinned and run by the Paretta team. A fourth road course race is an option, but the logistics of running a staff combined of the previous Paretta team members and the no.33 crew members presents some difficulties. Beth Paretta is still looking for a full-time schedule in 2023, whether it’s as an ECR affiliate or elsewhere on the grid.
