Racers and fans alike were greeted by sunshine and seasonably cool conditions, new track lighting and a track full of new clay at the Bruce Rogers Memorial which opened Grandview’s 2022 season. 44 modifieds and 36 sportsman entries were in attendance to honor Bruce Rodgers and via for the $10,060 winner’s check and 1,060 for each of the 24 qualifiers.
Pole setter Tim Buckwalter led the first 46 laps. After a lap 38 restart Craig Von Dohren methodically moved from 4th and moved into the lead on lap 47. In the final 13 laps Von Dohren was able to hold off Jeff Strunk to take the win of the 60 lap Bruce Rogers Memorial.
The top ten was rounded out by Jeff Strunk in second followed by Doug Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer, Craig Whitmoyer, Tim Buckwalter, Jorden Henn, Nate Brinker, Bobby Gunther-Walsh and Brett Kressley in 10th place.
The heat races were won by Brett Kressley, Ryan Beltz, Bobby Varin in Norm Hansell’s 357 and Brian Hirthler. The consolation races went to Dylan Swinehart and Brad Brightbill.

The sportsman feature was led to green by Dakota Kohler with Mark Kemmerer taking the lead on lap 1. Kemmerer lost the lead in lap traffic on lap 12 to Jordan Henn who took a 2 second margin of victory into the sportsman victory lane for his 3rd win in a row with the 4R sportsman entry.
The top ten was rounded out by Mark Kemmerer in second followed by Cody Manmiller, Jimmy Leiby, Dakota Kohler, Logan Bauman, Dylan Swinehart, Brian Hirther, Ryan Grim and Matt Clay in 10th place.
The heat races were won by Dakota Kohler, Mark Kemmerer, Logan Bauman, and Cody Manmiller. Last chance races were won by Matt Yoder and Kyle Smith.

Next Saturday, April 9 will be the first point race of the brand-new season, part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series featuring a double header with the T.P. Trailer Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman starting at 6 pm. Pit gates open at 2 pm and grandstand gates open at 4 pm. Adult grandstand admission is $18 while children under age 12 are admitted free of charge.
