Grandview Speedway held their first tripleheader program with Modified, Sportsman and 602 Crate Sportsman all being contested in the same night. Brett Kressley scored his 2nd modified win in two race to hold a solid grasp on the early points lead over the likes of defending champion Craig Von Doren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Doug Manmiller and Danny Bouc among others. Dylan Hoch scored his first sportsman win of his career in only his second time out with his 602 Crate entry. The 3rd and final winner of the night was the first ever winner in the crate 602 class at Grandview Speedway and it was Glen Struck in Jimmy Leiby’s 9L crate 602 entry.
Brett Kressley charged from the 16th starting position on the field to take his second consecutive modified win of the season. The first 9 laps of the feature saw the caution flag fly 5 times with one tangle resulting in a red flag. The next 21 laps were green flag laps where Brett Kressley moved into the lead on lap 18 and took the win over Jared Umbenhauer in a close second and Dillion Steuer in 3rd.
The modified top ten was round out with Duane Howard in 4th followed by Justin Grim, Ryan Grim, Kyle Weiss, Jeff Strunk and Craig Von Dohren.
The Sportsman division was won by first time winner Dylan Hock in his second outing with his Bicknell 602 crate entry. On a lap 17 restart Hock took over the lead from pole sitter Ebby Ridge and was able to hold on for the win despite a smoking engine and no power steering while under caution on lap 24 and on the final lap. Hoch took the win from his 9th starting position with Kenny Bock finishing a close second.
The sportsman top ten was rounded out by Kenny Bock in second followed by Kenny Gilmore, Jimmy Leiby, Dakota Kohler, Kyle Smith, Ryan Beltz, Ebby Ridge, Mark Kemmerer and Nathan Mohr.
The final feature of the night was Grandview’s first ever 602 crate feature event. Ryan Grim held a comfortable lead for the first 14 laps. But on a lap 14 restart Glenn Strunk in Jimmy Leiby’s 9L entry took command of the lead and drove into victory lane with a margin of victory of over 2 seconds over Tyler Peet in second place. Glenn Strunk picked up the win in his first time driving at race car since the close of the 2019 season when he was driving in the modified division.
The sportsman top ten was rounded out by Tyler Peet in second place followed by Ryan Grim, Decker Swinehart, Dakota Kohler, Rylan Lillick, Doug Snyder, Dylan Hoch, Mike Laise and Jimmy Leiby.
Next up at Grandview is the USAC National Midget tour along with the 358 modifieds on Thursday night April 22 with racing starting at 7:30 PM.
