The Short Track Super Series returned to Selinsgrove Speedway for the “Icebreaker” for the first time since 2013 for the first leg of the “Central PA Takeover”. The first afternoon race in recent memory started under clear sunny conditions with crisp temperatures and no wind. 50 modifieds and 57 Crate Sportsman were on hand and ready to tackle the always tricky afternoon track conditions and try to out run the competition for the win at point race # 2 of the STSS South Region.
Andy Bachetti returned to the STSS victory lane for the first time since his July 2019 win at Accord Speedway. JR Heffner took the lead at the green and held Bachetti off in second place until lap 23 when Bachetti took the lead. Bachetti held off a late charge from 5th to 2nd by Anthony Perrego but in the end Bachetti took the win by .5 a second and returned to victory lane for his first win of the 2021 season. Matt Sheppard made a strong push forward to a 3rd from his 12th place starting position on a one groove dominate race track.
The top ten were Andy Bachetti, Anthony Perrego, Matt Sheppard, Mat Williamson, Kyle Coffey, Larry Wight, Billy Pauch Jr., Tyler Dipple, Mike Mahaney and Ryan Watt.
